Formalising our (Johan Pelgrim, Dennis Geurts and myself) initiative helps us in creating better content for the Dutch Android professional or hobbyist. By becoming a foundation we are better equiped to attract funds and are committed to give everything back to the Dutch Android community in the form of meetups, open space meetings, hackathons, workshops, etc.

We are excited, confident and looking forward to continue to build the Dutch Android community with Stichting (Foundation in Dutch) The Dutch Android User Group in the upcoming years!

To celebrate this Google developer- and technology user group leaders in Europe have announced the “V Hack Android” hackathon (pronounced “We Hack Android”).

“V Hack Android” Dutch edition

I’m happy to announce that together with the Dutch Android User Group, Google Developer Group Netherlands and Appsterdam.rs I’m organizing the Dutch edition of this international hackathon where teams of exactly 3 people (2 Android developers and 1 UI/UX expert) will work on a new Android app in a to-be-announced theme.

So what to expect..

The “V Hack Android” Netherlands hackathon will be held in the weekend of Friday 14th – Sunday 16th of September.

Preliminary schedule (subject to change)

Friday

  • 19:00 – 21:00 Opening scrum with drinks & snacks

Saturday

  • 10:00 Opening hackathon day 1
  • 13:00 Lunch
  • 18:00 Dinner

Sunday

  • 10:00 Opening hackathon day 2
  • 13:00 Lunch
  • 16:00 Demo’s and votes
  • 18:00 Drinks and snacks

The winning Dutch team will be chosen by an independent jury. After this weekend the winning team can request support of the whole Dutch Android community to improve their app!
